Mine was great, a little drama, but great! We actually slept in a bit since we had to wait for Mark to get off work. The boys then helped to make breakfast. We had waffles, potatoes and bacon. YUM-O!
We then proceeded to open up gifts. Between Mark and I we got a new camcorder, "purse" camera, PDA, tools, slippers and more. Ryan got a Dell "dude" and Erik got a keyboard and some lessons to come. Both boys received a variety of games as well.
In the afternoon Ryan had to go to work. Mark and Erik went to visit his mother while I tried to get my grades and finals done and start dinner. Mom and I prepared a prime rib and ham with potatoes and green beans.
We had both my brother Jason and his family as well as my sister Breona and her family over that evening. It was really cool having everyone together again as it has been a while! We finally got the big family picture that my mom has wanted for a couple years now.
We also had our family picture taken. Our last one was back in April of 2006, you may remember this one:
What a difference 1 year and 8 months makes:
and with Adara, Ryan's girlfriend for almost 1 year.
and our silly pose, LOL!
and mom with the grands:
We wrapped up the evening with a rip-roaring round of Cranium that the boys gave us. Mark and I kicked-ass!
Christmas was then followed by the second and 3rd round of the Poly Soccer Tournament. The boys did well and ended up 3rd out of 20 teams. Not bad for a team that graduated 19 seniors last year and has lots of sophomores and juniors.
First a little follow up. The soccer team finished in second place at their tournament. Not bad considering this is a brand new team after graduating 20 seniors last year and these games were their first together as a team. The first two games ended in ties and went to PKs to determine a winner. Ryan scored PKs in both games to help his team win those games. In the third game the boys won 3 - 0 and Ryan had a goal and an assist in that game. The final game was for the championship against a league rival team. Ryan score the lone goal in that game on a PK. They however lost 1 -2 and finished in second place.
In yesterday's game, the boys played to a 3 - 2 win and Ryan once again had a goal and an assist. Mark and I were somewhat concerned that Ryan's senior year on the team would be a let down as it is considered a rebuilding year with Ryan being the only returning senior out of 4 returning players. So far that has not been the case. There are some great young players with awesome skill making the games so much fun to watch!
After the game Ryan and I took in Erik's Holiday Concert with the Choir. There were several great songs along with Christmas Carols and and amazing solos. Erik is the leader of the Men's ensemble and an awesome singer in both the Men's ensemble and the Chorale. Definitely in the Christmas spirit now!
The semester is winding up for me with 2 more weeks to go. Now to get focused on the things that need to get done like decorating and shopping for Christmas!
I leave you with some soccer and choir pictures of the boys!
